Awesome Suppliers – Bridal Make Mp by Katy Pheiffer

In the second of our “Awesome suppliers” series, we popped some questions to one of our favourite award winning makeup artists, Katy Pheiffer. We wanted to catch her perspective on the experience of a wedding day.

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Katy Pheiffer, I am a professional bridal makeup artist who specialises in Bridal make up and I have been doing makeup for 9 years. My background is in Fine art and I love a good wedding.

What made you decide to go into business?

I wanted to be a makeup artist and to have the artistic freedom you have to work for yourself.

What is it that excites you about your business?

Everything! My clients, meeting wonderful new people every day, getting to do what I love.

Do you get involved on the wedding day, how long are you there for?

I am usually the first person to be with the bridal party on the wedding day and I stay right up until the bride is ready.

Is there anything that a photographer could do for you that they don’t already?

I have been very lucky with my photographers and they are all outstanding.

What challenges do you face with each wedding?

I wouldn’t say there are challenges but there are definitely nerves when I first meet a bride. It’s a very important day and it needs to be just right.

Do you have any funny stories?

I once called the skin on a brides forehead a “foreskin.”

Are there any things that brides could consider to make weddings more unique or exciting?

I would love to see a change in the way brides are made to feel when it comes to keeping in with tradition. I want them to feel like weddings are unique and don’t have to be the same.

Are there any other suppliers that you would like to mention for their service or quality?

Andrea Harris at Bibury Court is the only wedding planner that stays with her brides until 2am – she deserves a medal.
