Documentary
My mantra is “Make interesting photographs.” Create beautiful images by using creative vision rather than intrusion. Photographs are much more satisfying when you’ve conjured something from nothing. It’s a challenge to be on guard all day, constantly looking out for connections and expressions between people. We don’t lurk in the shadows though. I find it’s much easier to remain unnoticed if you can put people at ease so we’re always talking and interacting with couples and guests which means that everyone can become comfortable with our presence and drop their guard.
We’re not documenting a crime scene though, we aren’t presenting evidence in court, so we do use lighting, reflections, lens tricks and other techniques to add interest to our images but there’s very little Photoshop it’s all done in camera on the day.
