Fun and Quirky wedding at Larmer Tree Gardens
Fiona and Ben’s Larmer Tree Gardens wedding was fun and quirky. Ben was dressed in peacock colours to match the venue’s prolific birds and Fiona had a beautiful 50’s inspired tea length dress. Luckily it was a gorgeous Autumn day so they were able to hold the wedding ceremony outdoors in the Lower Indian Room. Here’s the low down..
Beautiful Wiltshire wedding venue
Guests playing Badminton, Croquet and Space hoppers were serenaded by James on the accordian. James’ playing gave the day a slightly surreal feel, especially in the surroundings and reminded me of The Prisoner TV show. It was exactly the feel that Fiona and Ben were going for.
Larmer Tree Gardens is a gorgeous wedding venue and a gift for Wiltshire wedding photographers. Set in the heart of Wiltshire just outside Salisbury it has amazing gardens that are perfect for any wedding. Although given the beauty of the gardens an outdoor wedding ceremony would be preferred, the indoors is also beautifully decorated and it is rare that it rains all day so there’s always opportunity for getting outside.
Quirky wedding photography
In the middle of the garden was a strange silver box with eyes on stalks. It looked like it had just landed from outer space and when guests sat in front of it they were presented with a small portrait of themselves drawn by the talented and lovely Rosie Curran in her “Photobooth.” We had one too once the guests had gone in for the meal.
While the guests were being seated we took some time to explore the gardens with Fiona and Ben and then it was time for speeches. Dad’s touching speech to his daughter was followed by Ben and then Scott the Best Man. There’s a couple of Best Man speeches that end with the bride and groom surprised to hear that they are either going to Thailand or Wales. This one was nicely teed up by Scott for Ben who was clearly in on it (we’ve had a few shocked guests in the past). If you haven’t heard either of them then you can google it – Best Men often do.
After the speeches everyone headed out for sparklers and toasted marshmallows before the dancing started. As you can see there was plenty of dancing which makes a fantastic way to end a wedding. The band – Pick and the Mixes – were fabulous and really got the party started. Last but not least a special thanks to Nicki at The Larmer Tree for looking after us so well.
