Great Tythe Barn wedding – Lauren & Gareth

Lauren is the co-ordinator for weddings at the Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury. We shot our first wedding there last year for Julia and James and when we were having a look around beforehand we gave Lauren a card. She was getting married the following year. We figured that she would know plenty of Cotswolds wedding photographers so we were very surprised and excited when she booked us to be her wedding photographers.

It was an amazing day from start to end. Lauren got ready at home with the girls while Gareth was at the barn getting everything ready for the day ahead. There was a big South African influence as it’s Gareth’s home land with vuvuzela’s and braai.

The ceremony was held at Long Newnton Church, just up the road. Unfortunately the vicar wouldn’t allow any photography so we could only get their entrance and exit which was a shame as it is a beautiful church. Even though she banned the professionals I expect some of the guests will have some iphone and ipad photos to remember it by while we ate sandwiches outside.

Once we arrived back at the barn the party started. As the guests sat down to eat, one of the waiters burst into song. Singing waiters were a surprise for the guests and they went down a storm. I’m sure any calories in the food were worked off singing and dancing round the tables. After the meal some emotional speeches brought on the tears but not for long as the joy of the day soon overcame any sadness.

In the evening, after the dance we were all called out to the car park where a surprise fireworks display had been laid on to thank Lauren for her hard work. We stayed on and ran a very popular photo booth for an hour before joining in with the Braai (Afrikaan for BBQ) yum.
