Shilstone wedding photography – Natasha & Alasdair
Natasha and Alasdair chose Shilstone for their wedding when they discovered it while on holiday in Devon. Shilstone wedding photography is fantastic. It’s a truly amazing wedding venue. It has a barn for the ceremony, the gorgeous house for the drinks reception and then the impressive marquee for the wedding breakfast and dancing. All set in beautiful rolling Devon countryside. I’ll let Natasha tell you about it –

Natasha and Alasdair met as newly qualified doctors working at the Conquest hospital in Hastings. They shared giant buttons, mini golf and wild nights out before Alasdair finally proposed on a punt in Bath. Natasha was so excited she lost a flip flop on the way home and had to walk with one bare foot.
A fun day of romance, dinning and dancing with our family and friends
“We found Shilstone by accident when we were on holiday in Devon in the summer of 2015. We both really loved how it appeared out of nowhere after a confusing but beautiful journey down winding country lanes and rolling fields. We had a great time looking around the venue on a golf buggy with a Spaniel puppy called Cookie. We loved the modern airy barn for the ceremony, combined with the traditional style of the house garden and marquee.”
A fusion of Asian and Scottish tradition
“We wanted to include some Asian and Scottish elements to a fun countryside wedding. In tribute to Asia my mum designed exotic flower arrangements with orchids and Heliconias, we had brightly coloured bunting, Indian food, henna style wedding stationary and elephant confetti which we made ourselves. In tribute to Alasdair the groomsmen dressed in kilts, we had a ceilidh dance and toasted the speeches with Oban single malt whisky.
My mum did the flower arrangements, the groomsman button holes were made with lavender and Eryngium thistle to match the Scottish kilts. My mother also made button holes for the brides side from exotic pink and orange ‘Miss Piggy’ roses which matched the colours of my bouquet and echoed the vibrant colours used for the Asian elements.”
The Lord of the rings
“Alasdair loves films and games and so the table names were taken from the Lord of the Rings map – the tree logo on the table plan was the White Tree of Gondor. The wedding favours were Lego men which were chosen for specifically for each guest – I had Batman, my sister had Mystique from X-Men!”
The highlights
“The ceremony was beautiful. The vows which Alasdair had chosen were a complete surprise, the words were beautiful and moving. I came much closer to crying than I was expecting.
The personal touches from our family really made it for us. Hearing Alasdair’s family singing at our ceremony, the amazing flowers and cake that both of our mothers had perfected and of course going back to our finest and most embarrassing moments in the speeches.
Both of us enjoyed bouncing around with our friends to the Ceilidh to the band after dinner and in the making of the Marryoke video. Getting married was such great fun which was also a surprise!”
Why did they choose us for their Shilstone wedding photography? “We loved the photos that they had taken of our friends wedding, they captured the fun, personal touches and emotions of the day.”
“The images are fantastic- we’re really pleased!”
