The Manor House Castle Combe wedding – Helen & Adam
Helen & Adam were married in church followed by a wedding reception at the beautiful Manor House Hotel in Castle Combe. I’ve photographed a wedding at The Manor House a couple of years ago. It’s an amazing Wiltshire wedding venue with extensive stunning grounds and dramatic lighting indoors alongside the cosy feel of a traditional country hotel.
Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance
My least favourite part of doing a wedding is the bit between getting out of bed and arriving at the prep. Anything could go wrong. It’s why we have checklists and start charging batteries/ packing a couple of days ahead of the wedding. Once we’ve arrived everything is fine.
This day I was on my own; nearly at the bride prep – in a cottage in the middle of nowhere – and I came across this sign – ROAD CLOSED. Oh No. Now I have to fight the Sat Nav which will insist on taking me where I can’t go. I finally got to the prep after a trip up a tiny single track road and a 13 point turn. I discovered that the cottage was about six feet the other side of the road closed sign. Still, being prepared for anything I wasn’t late, just a little flustered. A deep breath and switch on.
Running To The Church In The Rain
During the prep, it started to rain. When I reached the church it was hammering down. The church was a modern red brick building and wasn’t obviously a church. I had to brave the rain, run in – “Phew! it is a church” – run back to the car, grab my stuff, run back.
Following the ceremony, there was tea and cakes laid on for the guests and a short speech by Helen’s dad. Then it was the long drive to the Manor House. An hour’s drive is what happens when you move house after booking the venue.
The Manor House Wiltshire Wedding Venue
This was a non-traditional wedding in that it was small, family and close friends only and didn’t have a first dance. After the meal everyone retired to the lounge where the band had set up and were playing laid back, mellow tunes for everyone to relax into the evening.
